Well, I sure am glad that Congress avoided the shutdown. Yeah, those courageous Republicans were able to hold the line and get two thirds of what amounts to an infinitesimal budget cut. Yeah, and isn't it great that Harry Reid can now keep government abortions..."health care"...for his daughter and granddaughters. Too bad he doesn't have government-paid-for health care for his family already. Too bad he isn't a multi-millionaire who can pay for his granddaughters abortions..."health care"...himself. Poor, poor, pencil-neck Harry. Do we really expect him to let go of some of his own money? Shame on us for not wanting to pay for poor millionaire's daughters' abortions..."health care."

I recently heard Nancy Pelosi (yech!) commenting on her view of the "Cap and Tax" bill. She said that it is "...a bill to honor our moral responsibility to protect God's beautiful creation by preserving the planet."

For a second there, she scared me. At first I thought she was referring to unborn babies.

Imagine, if you will, that the police raid an apartment on a tip that a violent crime was just committed there. They quickly arrive at the apartment, only to find upon entrance, a man, covered with blood, and no one else present.

Now, the officers would certainly arrest him, for obvious reasons, until they could determine if a crime had actually been committed. The man, wisely, kept his mouth shut and called his lawyer.

His lawyer advised him to continue to exercise his right to remain silent. He told him, "I'll handle everything."

The prosecutor was bright and ambitious and decided to have the man arraigned, though there was no body. Still, he felt sure that he could convince the jury that, simply because the accused was shrewd enough to dispose of the remains, that was no reason to let him get away with murder. He declared, "With all of this blood, surely we'll get a conviction."

The trial commenced and the attorneys did a great job arguing their respective cases. The defense argued that there was no body, so, there was no conclusive evidence that a murder had taken place. The prosecutor argued that DNA evidence proved the blood was human, therefore, even though the accused craftily disposed of the remains, that was not cause to let him go free.

Both sides were persuasive, yet, in the end, the jury found the man guilty. They felt, even without the body, a crime had been committed. The human blood was proof enough for them.

At this point, the man, on his lawyer's advice, decided it was time to confess to the truth of what had happened. This was his last chance for freedom. So, he admitted that he had, perhaps, taken a life, but not in the way it seemed.

He explained that he was a physician and had received a call from a frantic female friend of the family who had become, unexpectedly, pregnant. She begged him to perform an abortion and keep it secret from her husband and the rest of the family. After some persuasion, the doctor reluctantly agreed to meet her at a secluded motel, perform the operation, and they could both slip away without anyone knowing.

The story became more loathsome when he confessed further that, even though in the first trimester, the child was, he believed, viable. This was a terrible situation for himself and the "mother." She vehemently begged him to dispose of the infant in spite of its budding health. At this point, he agreed it was best for her and him if he did exactly that.

He continued that after terminating the fetus, he disposed of the remains in a fashion that he felt would leave no evidence. Perhaps all the blood and the sound of a hysterical woman kept him from being as surreptitious as he would have liked to have been. Apparently, someone at the hotel became suspicious and called law enforcement.

His lawyer argued that he had not committed a murder, but had merely performed a private health service for a distraught woman. He further argued that thousands of such procedures are performed every day well within the confines of federal law. Therefore, he asserted the judge must overturn the conviction and release the doctor. This was the conundrum in which the judge found himself.

Sadly, the same basic scenario occurs on a daily basis in America and around the world. Women "choose" to abort their children and it's considered, by some, to be nothing more than a "medical procedure." You know, much like an appendectomy or removing a gall bladder, they claim.

In most states, first trimester abortions are protected by federal, state, and local law. Some even are allowed much later in pregnancy, such as in partial birth abortions.

Far to many Americans' have a cavalier attitude toward the unborn. This is a never ending source of amazement to me. Still, a simple DNA test can prove the pre-delivery child to be human. Yet, far too many don't consider it wrong to arbitrarily end its life. Far toomany of us have hearts that are cold as stone and just as hard.

So, should the doctor be found guilty of murder? Is there any difference, practically speaking, between what he did and what doctors do in abortion clinics daily? Should the judge let the doctor go? Should he, legally speaking, be set free?

If you had the power to decide, what would you do? Actually, when you support those who support this heartless sort of thinking, you do have the power. You know what they say: With great power comes great responsibility. What will you do with that power?

So, my president wants me to believe that the biggest power grab by the federal government in our nation's history is only temporary. Who does he think he's fooling?

I can hear it all now: "Mr. Caesar, you've suspended the Roman Senate and have taken upon yourself absolute dictatorial powers. Are we to believe it's all just temporary?"

"Oh, yes. Just until the crisis passes," replies Mr. Caesar. Alas, the crisis never seems to pass.

I can hear it all now: "Mr. Hitler, you've suspended the German Parliament and have taken upon yourself absolute dictatorial powers. Are we to believe it's all just temporary?"

I can hear it all now: "Mr. Mao, you've overthrown the Chinese republic and have taken upon yourself absolute dictatorial powers. Are we to believe it's all just temporary?"

What despot has ever admitted that he wants all the power all the time? Almost without exception, they say, "It's only temporary." Well, we all know the story about the camel getting his nose into the tent.

Now, I am nowhere near calling our president, Caesar, Hitler or Mao. While Mr. Obama is sorely mistaken about many of his views, he will, I'm sure...I pray, never desire nor be able to rise to the diabolical level that those monsters have. Some of his beliefs and ideas, though, do border on and even surpass evil. (Such as his defense of partial birth abortion and allowing children who survive abortions to be left to die without medical care.)

The fact is, this is the normal progression of the loss of freedom. We usually just would rather not deal with life's complicated issues. The first tyrant who comes along and promises to make all the hard decisions for us, simplify our lives and care for us cradle to grave, sweeps us into slavery before we know what hits us. Yes, and he even does so by our own leave.

Now, I don't want to hear anyone say, "Not here!" Look around you. We wouldn't be the first nor the last nation to make that arrogant statement.

By the way, where are all those civil liberty banshees now? Where is all the fear and concern about the feds taking our rights from us? Don't they care about property rights? Don't they care about the right to spend our hard-earned cash as we see fit?

Those people are funny. As long as they can retain the "right" to kill their children in the womb, marry men to men and keep the name of God out of the public forum, they don't seem to care about much else. Yes, "funny" in a bizarre, twisted sort of self-centered way.

"That's above my pay grade." What!?!

A man who is running for president of this great nation tries to pull the old private's trick? You've got to be kidding me!

He wants to be president of the most powerful nation on earth? He wants to be leader of the free world? Nothing, I repeat, NOTHING is above his pay grade! Sheesh!

If you are such a spineless, indecisive wimp of a politician that you won't even hazard an opinion about when life begins, you can't expect to be taken seriously about anything. How can an intelligent man who claims to be a Christian be so wishy-washy about such an istemibaly important issue?

I suppose, he did ensure that he will get his campaign donation from Planned Parenthood and other anti-life organizations. Still, he came across as the shallow, vapid consumate politician that he truly is.

They say beauty is only skin deep, but I guess ignorance goes clean to the bone.

I sent this email to Neal Boortz today. I don't really think he'll ever see it. Who knows? Maybe.

Dear Mr. Boortz:

I've been listening to your program fairly regularly, around two hours a week, for about three years now. Your show, if nothing else, never fails to be entertaining. I discovered you one day while tuning in for my regular helping of Dr. Laura. You were there instead.

I find that I agree with you, oh, I suppose, sixty percent of the time. I have always been a proud conservative, but have had my eyes opened, in many ways, by your Libertarian logic. You have even gone so far as to move my philosophy, somewhat, on the political spectrum toward your way of thinking. Not an easy task, considering my own well known obstinence. (On the "Are You a Libertarian?" test, I now find myself consistently on the border between conservative and libertarian.)

Yet, "I have somewhat against thee." I won't try, so much, to explain why, or argue the facts. I won't try to sway you to my way of thinking. I don't believe I could.
I only wish to point out a couple of things that bother me.

I've heard you many times remind your listeners that you don't discuss the "a -word." Yet, I've heard you many times berate pro-lifers, even the term "pro-life,” questioning our intelligence and casting blistering aspersions at us on every level. (That's o.k. We can take it.)

Again, I am not writing to defend my position or attack yours. I'm only writing to point out that you, in this respect, are typical of the "pro-choice" crowd. You defend the choice of everyone, but the unborn who just happen to live, so to speak, on the wrong side of the tracks.

Furthermore, I think that it's not so much that you have come to any sort of intellectual conclusion about when life does or does not begin. I just think it's more that you really don't care. It's not something that has a direct effect on you, so your attitude is one of convenience and indifference. The unborn can't call in to your show to complain, so, in your thinking, they simply are irrelevant. It's only my opinion, but I believe I am right.

It's disheartening when people don't care about people. To quote Dr. Seuss: " A person is a person no matter how small."

You won’t be able to throw me into that stack of ninnies who write and say, "I'll never listen again." I'll continue to do so. You have so much of value to relate and I have learned so much from you. I enjoy both your rapier wit and venomous tongue. (I'm a bit of a malapert myself.)

So, I’ll continue listening. I’ll laugh when I agree and pray for you when I don’t.

Your show definitely is one of the best! Of course, your no Rush Limbaugh, but, then again, that’s why he’s the “Godfather.”
